A small software company, testing one idea in one village

Every house has a list. Nobody comes.

The mirror that has sat in its box since spring. The tap that drips. The outside light that has never worked. Not because the trades are bad people, but because one small job in a village is not worth anyone's drive. One of us paid £160 for ten minutes of work on an immersion heater. Put four small jobs in one village on the same day, and the drive is worth making.

So we are running it by hand first. One village has been told, in its parish magazine. Everyone else arrives by word of mouth or a shared link, and the map keeps count of both. When a village reaches four jobs in one trade, we check a tradesperson ourselves, build the day, and stand in the lane while it happens. If it works, the next village is wherever the map says. If it does not, we write up why.

How we work

• In public. The map and the notes show what each village sent, what the first day cost and paid, and what went wrong.
• Checked tradespeople. Before anyone is offered a day, we'll check they're insured, listed with Buy With Confidence or TrustMark, and registered with their trade body where there is one. You'll see their name and photo before the day, and nobody will knock without an appointment. How we'll check
• Nothing to pay until you have a date. Then a £15 booking fee, refundable within 14 days of booking. You pay the tradesperson directly for the work, at a price you know before the day.
• Your data stays yours. Your village is a dot. Your job and your email never appear anywhere, and nobody buys them.
